A RUSTIC HAND-BUILT GUEST FARM IN THE HEART OF ROCKLANDS

Rocklands is an experience. Eight Day Rain creates a space for that experience. With our roots in the soil, our accommodation nestled in nature and our focus on the surrounding environment, we invite you to connect with the spirit of this place.

ACCOMMODATION

Eight Day Rain is a small, eco-conscious guest farm with minimal boundaries between humans and the environment. Choose a quiet campsite, a cosy lodge tent, or a characterful caravan. Each is set lightly in the fynbos with big skies and long views. Shared spaces keep the community connected: a central hub and  kitchen, a friendly fire circle and communal ablutions create a feeling of connection. Other comforts and amenities include hot gas showers, clean composting toilets and fast Wi-Fi.

COMMUNITY

We're passionate about community - both ours and the wider Rocklands. We work with neighbouring farms, guides, local producers, tourism initiatives and agricultural unions to uplift our community and make our way of life more sustainable. We invite you to support these initiatives by buying local from the farm stalls and restaurants at other local farms and getting involved in our trail maintenance and tree planting initiatives.

SUSTAINABILITY

Leave it better than we found it. This is our ethos. We focus on a light touch with a long term view. Besides construction practices that limit our impact on the environment, we do all we can to convert waste into resource that can be returned to the land. Our composting systems turn human waste and food scraps into fertile soil, and our waste water is used to irrigate vegetation. We’re big on trees, and the recovery of the endangered Clanwilliam Cedar is particularly important to us.
